Alexander Volkanovski is making his acting debut.
The two-time UFC Featherweight Champion reclaimed his throne earlier this year when he defeated Diego Lopes in the main event of UFC 314 in April.
It was a movie moment for Volkanovski, getting his hand raised for the first time in nearly two years after back-to-back knockout losses to Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria.
Volkanovski is one of the most beloved fighters on the UFC roster, for his vintage performances in the Octagon and his personality outside of it. Volkanovski hosts his own cooking series and he also does comedy skits from time to time.
Volkanovski will bring his acting chops with him as the UFC champ heads for Hollywood.
Alexander Volkanovski cast as ‘Joe’ in ‘Street Fighter’ movie
On Thursday, the official ‘Street Fighter’ account rolled out the cast for the new Street Fighter movie.
Street Fighter is one of the most popular fighting video game franchises in the world, along with Mortal Kombat and Tekken, which have been adapted into movies as well.
UFC’s Volkanovski is confirmed for the role of ‘Joe’, an American kickboxing champion with blonde hair that’s often forgotten about.
Some of the more high-profile castings include Andre Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, WWE superstar Cody Rhodes as Guile, 50 Cent as Balrog, Jason Momoa as Blanka, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, and Roman Reigns as Akuma.
Famous comedians Eric André and Andrew Schulz have also been cast in the film with André playing Don Sauvage and Schulz playing Dan Hibiki.

Alexander Volkanovski’s character was based off real kickboxer
Volkanovski’s first acting role, Joe, is a martial artist from the original Street Fighter arcade game in 1987. Joe is a non-playable character for the most part and hasn’t been featured in the mainline games.
Joe’s character was inspired by real-life kickboxer, the late, great Joe Lewis.
Lewis is revered as the greatest karate fighter of all time and is considered the ‘father of American kickboxing’. He even trained with the likes of the legendary Bruce Lee.
The Street Fighter movie hits theaters on October 16, 2026.
