Controversial UFC star has put a dampener on Tony Ferguson’s emotional bounce back win on Saturday.
This past Saturday, Misfits boxing returned to the AO Arena in Manchester for the latest iteration of influencer boxing, headlined by a clash between former UFC stars Darren Till and Luke Rockhold.
The co-main event also included a UFC legend as Tony Ferguson made his first appearance since leaving the UFC when he took on ‘Salt Papi’ in his boxing debut.
Despite the widespread concern for ‘El Cucuy’ heading into the event, Ferguson emotionally bounced back from his eight fight losing streak with a stoppage win.

Colby Covington urges Tony Ferguson to retire
Although the combat sports fanbase was ecstatic to see Ferguson finally return to the win column, his win was disputed by a Misfits referee who claimed the stoppage was extremely early.
With the 41-year-old picking up the win, it is unlikely that he is going to hang up his gloves any time soon.
However, he has been urged to retire coming off the back of his win by UFC star Colby Covington, who is on a two fight losing skid himself.
“We got Tony Ferguson and I think after our last interaction at that press conference, I think we’re friends, I don’t know, it went so many different ways, we were friends, we were enemies, but team USA brother,” Colby began his reaction.
“You know, I’m happy for him, congratulations to Tony for actually winning a fight, even though it was against some influencer that has no combat sports experience, a win’s a win.
“My advice to Tony is to quit while you’re ahead and ride off into the sunset, go enjoy time with your family, brother. If you get back in there again, you’re gonna get hurt and no one wants to see you get hurt Tony cause we like you, no more hits to the head and no reason to give duck lip (Justin) Gaethje a run for his money as king of CTE,” Colby continued.
When will Colby Covington return to the UFC?
In his last few outings, Covington has shown clear regression and calls have even come for him to retire from the sport.
Despite that, the former interim welterweight champion recently made a callout of Paddy Pimblett, inviting him to move up to the 170lb division, labelling him a ‘weight bully’.
‘Chaos’ is looking to return in the next few months and has also highlighted the highly anticipated White House event in 2026 as an event he wants to compete on.
