Lightweight fight added to UFC Paris card as popular debutant steps in on short notice

The UFC returns to Paris this Saturday for another Fight Night offering and there are several debutants included on the card.

On Saturday September 6, the premier promotion returns to France for UFC Paris, headlined by middleweight contenders Nassourdine Imavov and Caio Borralho.

The co-main event also features an extremely tantalizing matchup between lightweight contenders Mauricio Ruffy and home country favorite Benoit Saint-Denis who is once again looking to score back-to-back wins.

However, the majority of the fanbase is most looking forward to the several debuts included on the stacked Fight Night card.

Popular British fighter added to UFC Paris card on four days notice

One French star that was set to compete in front of his hometown fans again was lightweight contender Fares Ziam, as he was set to clash against Kaue Fernandes.

Despite that, Ziam devastatingly had to withdraw from the fight after suffering the loss of his grandmother.

According to reports, though, Fernandes will remain on the card though and will take on Cage Warriors featherweight champion, Harry Hardwick.

‘Houdini’ Hardwick is extremely popular amongst the British MMA fanbase because of his body of work in Cage Warriors, which has seen him go on a very impressive nine fight undefeated streak.

UFC fans may be familiar with Hardwick as his brother George Hardwick competed on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023, but came up short and subsequently wasn’t offered a contract.

“Right, off on a little adventure… Yeah, bit of an organisational headache the last 12 hours has been but yea, f—— yeah, it’s gonna be good,” Hardwick said on his Instagram story.

Other notable debuts set to take place in Paris

As well as the anticipated debut of Hardwick, the UFC Paris card will also include three other notable debutants.

Oktagon double champion Losene Keita will finally make his promotional debut when he takes on Patricio Pitbull in what is set to be a huge clash.

Tom Aspinall‘s teammate Ante Delija will also make his first walk to the UFC cage when he takes on Marcin Tybura in a big heavyweight clash.

Former KSW featherweight champion Robert Ruchala also makes his UFC debut when he takes on French contender William Gomis.
