‘UFC, take him back…’ Dustin Poirier’s wife shares hilarious update month after retirement

Dustin Poirier is enjoying retirement life.

The former UFC interim lightweight champion laid down the gloves in the main event of UFC 318 last month, retiring after a gritty decision loss to BMF Champion Max Holloway in New Orleans.

Poirier returned to the UFC a few weeks later, not as a fighter but as an analyst on the desk at UFC 319.

With no UFC event this weekend, Poirier’s wife gives us a new look at what Poirier has been up to post-retirement.

Dustin Poirier opens up ‘Silly Goose Fitness Club’, wife reacts

Poirier has been putting in the work at the gym—his home gym, that is.

Poirier added his own personal touch by painting ‘Silly Goose Fitness Club’ on the wall, a nod to ‘Gilly Goose Gang’, a phrase he’s coined for attempting guillotine submissions in his UFC career. Poirier famously said ‘Don’t be silly, jump the gilly’.

Poirier also posted stickers of geese wearing red bandanas.

“If I hit the lottery I won’t say anything but there’s going to be signs,” Poirier wrote on X.

“We ain’t taking applications,” Poirier responded to a fan asking for a membership.

His wife, Jolie Poirier, hilariously reacted to the paint job.

“No seriously @ufc take him back,” Jolie wrote on her Instagram story.

“Dustin can’t be left unsupervised,” Poirier’s wife added.

Dustin Poirier never lost two in a row until retirement fight

Prior to his trilogy bout with Max Holloway, Poirier had never lost back-to-back fights.

That’s quite the feat to have over a 40-fight career, but sadly it came to an end in Poirier’s 32nd UFC appearance.

Poirier lost to Holloway on the scorecards and nearly made it there against then pound-for-pound king Islam Makhachev at UFC 302, but ‘The Diamond’ was ultimately submitted by Makhachev in the final round.

The 36-year-old Poirier retired from the UFC with a winning record of 22-9 (1 NC).
