Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis branded ‘disgusting’ by former world champion who fears tragic outcome

Amir Khan has slammed the upcoming exhibition bout between Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis.

The former unified light-welterweight champion fears something could go badly wrong when they fight on November 14.

Jake Paul is 6ft 1in tall and has weighed in at 227lbs during his 12-1 professional boxing career.

30-0-1 Gervonta Davis is the much more experienced boxer, but he stands at 5ft 5in and typically weighs under 135lbs for his fights, which is making Amir Khan nervous ahead of the controversial exhibition mismatch.

Amir Khan slams Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis

Amir Khan fears that something bad could happen due to the rise of crossover boxing.

‘King’ knows all about being in a mismatch after getting badly knocked out by Canelo Alvarez in 2016.

“I mean, it is disgusting, and you know, someone’s gonna end up getting hurt really badly in all this exhibition of boxing,” Khan said when asked about Paul vs. Davis by SunSport.

“That’s why I respect Turki Alalshikh saying that he doesn’t want nothing to do with these YouTubers and these exhibition fights. And not only that, how can you take it seriously? You look at this weight difference.

“It’s a mismatch, and I just hope someone’s not gonna end up getting hurt one day, that it’s gonna put boxing down.

“And that’s why, if you look at the sport, this is why MMA is doing so well, and that people are respecting it more. You don’t get these dummies coming in and fighting a real MMA fighter, you know what I’m saying?”

Jake Paul agrees to drug testing

Paul has silenced the haters by agreeing to the ‘strictest drug testing possible’ ahead of his fight with Davis.

The 28-year-old has faced baseless allegations of steroid use throughout his boxing career.

Paul is ready to prove that he’s a clean athlete, with some help from the United States Anti-Doping Agency [USADA].

“Don’t worry. For all of you Karens who accuse me of being on steroids as the reason for winning all of my fights, we have the strictest drug testing possible for this fight,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“US Anti-Doping Agency. Random drug tests at any moment.”

In a subsequent drug test skit, Paul insisted: “Clean as a whistle. Contrary to what they say.”
