Throughout his career, Canelo Alvarez has earned a staggering amount of money for being one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet.
On September 13, Canelo Alvarez will take on one of his toughest opponents to date when he takes on Terence Crawford for the undisputed super middleweight title.
Ahead of what is set to be an utter spectacle, consensus greatest fighter of all time, Floyd Mayweather has made his thoughts on both fighters clear, declaring one of them the current pound-for-pound number one.
Throughout his career, the Mexican champion has earned a staggering amount of money, and in 2018, he made a $3 million purchase after becoming the world’s richest athlete.

Canelo scored brutal finish after signing huge $365 million deal
The deal that made Canelo the world’s richest athlete was his $365 million five-year deal with DAZN, which would see his next 11 fights broadcast on the streaming service.
In Canelo’s first fight after signing the whopping deal, he moved up to the super middleweight division for the first time in his career to take on British boxer, Rocky Fielding.
Despite the huge size difference between the two fighters, early on it became clear that Fielding’s shots just didn’t pack enough of a punch to cause the Mexican any issues.
Midway through the opening round, Canelo began chipping away at the body of the Brit, landing heavy shots to his mid-section.
Fielding began getting roped into Canelo’s way of fighting as they began trading punches in the pocket, which nullified Fielding’s size advantage.
And then with just over a minute left of round one, the challenger landed a big left hook to the body which dropped the champion to his knee.
Somehow Fielding made it out of the opening round, but the issues continued into round two as he was once again dropped with a big body shot.
But it was in round three when Canelo really turned it on, dropping Fielding for the third time in the fight with 45 seconds on the clock. He made it back to his feet but was dropped again 20 seconds later after another crushing body shot, and the referee stepped in and called the fight.
Canelo vs Crawford could dictate who is the pound-for-pound number one
Both Canelo and ‘Bud’ Crawford are widely regarded as two of the current best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet, with Crawford still donning an undefeated record.
If the Mexican is able to hand the American his first ever loss, he could well guarantee himself the status of the best fighter on earth.
