Georges St-Pierre proved he is an all-time great when he bounced back from one of the most shocking defeats in UFC history.
The UFC legend was almost unbeatable in his prime, which made his first-round TKO loss to Matt Serra in his first title defense that much more surprising.
It was one of the biggest upsets in UFC history, with few losses coming close to Georges St-Pierre’s decimation at the hands of the Ultimate Fighter winner.
Weaker men could have crumbled after such a defeat, but GSP bounced back to defeat a man whom he would later become very familiar with on The Ultimate Fighter.

Georges St-Pierre beat Josh Koscheck in his first fight since losing to Matt Serra
Looking to rebuild after such a shocking loss, St-Pierre sought to take on another Ultimate Fighter alumnus in Josh Koscheck at UFC 74.
It was a fight that gave him the chance to work on the issues St-Pierre had against Serra. Koscheck was a good wrestler who had knockout power in his punches, something the Canadian struggled with in his last fight.
While Koscheck may have thought he could claim a big scalp in GSP, he was totally outclassed over three rounds by the former UFC Welterweight champion.
He managed numerous takedowns throughout the bout, controlling the American fighter and holding him down like nobody had done before.
The first two rounds saw GSP dominate the grappling game. The second saw more strikes being exchanged before a grapple on the ground in the last minute almost saw the Canadian force a submission.
He locked in a kneebar in the final seconds of the bout, with the klaxon saving Koscheck from tapping out, although he lost the fight by unanimous decision in a clean victory for GSP.
Georges St-Pierre later went up against Josh Koscheck as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter
St-Pierre got back on track and regained the UFC Welterweight title from Serra in their UFC 83 rematch, kicking off his legendary second run with the belt.
However, he was not done with Koscheck yet, as the two became very familiar as opposite coaches on one season of The Ultimate Fighter.
“The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck” was the twelfth series of the hit show, with Koscheck earning his spot on the program and a title shot against St-Pierre by beating Paul Daley at UFC 113.
The coaches’ fight took place at UFC 124 and was another dominant win for the champion.
St-Pierre broke Koscheck’s orbital bone with his constant jabbing, which ultimately put him on track for a poor run of fights before ending his career six losses in a row.
