Darren Till admits to dealing with serious injury days out from Luke Rockhold clash

Darren Till has claimed to still be dealing with the broken hand that he suffered during his fight with Darren Stewart back in May.

On Saturday night, Till will take the biggest step in his boxing journey when he faces Luke Rockhold at the AO Arena in Manchester in the main event of Misfits Boxing 22. But he may have to fight through what is a pretty serious injury.

Earlier this month, the former UFC title contender sat down with Bloody Elbow over the phone for an exclusive chat. And during the interview, he let slip that his hand may still be broken from the Stewart fight.

Darren Till claims his hand is still broken from Darren Stewart fight

When Darren Till fought his namesake Darren Stewart back in May, it looked as though we may be heading for another early night as he scored a quick knockdown. But the Brit showed incredible resilience to fight through and even turn the fight around before a knockdown on the bell saved Till.

However, in the process of landing a massive barrage of punches Till managed to injure his hand severely. And as of our interview recorded on August 12, he claimed the hand was still broken, just days away from his fight with Luke Rockhold.

“Luke can’t take what Darren could take,” he said of the amount of punches he plans to land this time around. “I know this because all my coaches and everyone I’ve sparred around the gym knows how hard I hit with these gloves on.

“They were all asking ‘how did that man take that?’ Boulder head. I mean, to be honest my hand is still broken from the fight. That says everything about what is in that man’s head because I knock people out for fun and I couldn’t knock him out.”

Luke Rockhold believes he will make Darren Till quit in Misfits Boxing showdown

While Till is a known puncher and has a solid chin of his own, the belief is that if the going gets tough, he might opt to get going. He was dominating proceedings against Dricus Du Plessis at one point in his final UFC fight before eventually submitting, and Rockhold plans to put on similar pressure in the ring.

“It’s down to the work we put in right now and the work I’ve been putting in,” Rockhold explained to Bloody Elbow. “Darren is going around saying I’m old, I’m on steroids. I’ve been working my a– off every day.

“I’m not 30 any more, I’m 40 and that means there’s no time to waste. I wake up every day even if I went and had a couple beers with the boys and running five miles. I’m hitting the sauna, I’m going to work, going to this and that.

“I’m not going to Ibiza on stage Charlie’d out of my mind like Darren. I see you, boy.”
