‘The Ultimate Fighter’ no. 1 pick jumps into Daniel Cormier’s arms after sick KO against the fence

The UFC might be on the horizon for Eduardo Chapolin.

A championship double-header tops off LFA 215 on Friday night, just hours before the UFC Shanghai card kicks off from the other side of the world.

The nine-fight card took place in Ventura, California. LFA Lightweight Champion Richie Miranda defended his title in the main event against Ilay Barzilay while in the co-main event, returning flyweight champion Eduardo Henrique battled Devon Lozej.

Nicknamed ‘Chapolin’ after the famous Mexican sitcom ‘El Chapulín Colorado’, Brazil’s Henrique was the no. 1 overall pick on the latest season of the UFC’s reality TV show ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ earlier this year.

Chapolin didn’t win a UFC contract but he made his coach, former two-division champion Daniel Cormier proud with a spectacular performance in his third LFA title fight.

Eduardo Chapolin’s KO leaves opponent’s head leaning against the fence

LFA 215 was Chapolin’s first fight since ‘The Ultimate Fighter 33’.

Chapolin locked in his second title defense against Devon Lozej, knocking out the Canadian prospect with a mean left hook and follow-up punches.

Chapolin left Lozej’s head leaning against the fence for what was the fighter’s first KO loss.

Chapolin jumped the cage and into coach Daniel Cormier’s arms, who joined him in the cage for the post-fight celebration.

After hearing ‘And Still’ from the announcer, UFC Flyweight Champion Alexandre Pantoja wrapped the LFA flyweight belt around Chapolin.

Now 14-2 as a pro, Chapolin called for a UFC contract following his first-round knockout on UFC Fight Pass.

Gilbert Melendez recommends UFC sign champ Richie Miranda

Lightweight champion Richie Miranda improved to an impressive 12-1 in the main event of LFA 215.

Miranda got his hand raised in what former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez called a five-round ‘war for the ages’ against Ilay Barzilay.

Miranda defeated Barzilay via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46).

Like Chapolin, Miranda called for a UFC signing following his sixth-straight win in LFA.

“Dana call me up,” Miranda told Gilbert Melendez in his post-fight interview.

“I’m ready. Any lightweight, I’m ready to take them on,” Miranda said.

Miranda also mentioned in his post-fight interview that Melendez’s career inspired his fighting spirit.

“I recommend you [UFC] sign this guy,” Melendez said of Miranda.

“He’s ready for war. He left a piece of his life out here,” Melendez added.
