After missing weight on several occasions, the UFC have finally cut ties with one of their impressive contenders.
This past weekend, the premier promotion returned to Chicago for the first time in over six years for UFC 319, headlined by a middleweight title fight between Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev.
For a while, it seemed as though the card was going untouched, however, just a week out, fights began to fall from the card due to last minute injuries.
And then on Friday before the event, another fight was lost when Bryan Battle weighed in a whopping 4lbs over the middleweight limit for his scheduled fight against Nursulton Ruziboev.

Bryan Battle shockingly cut from the UFC
Since joining the UFC after winning a contract on The Ultimate Fighter, ‘The Butcher’ has scored several extremely impressive victories inside the Octagon.
He began his UFC tenure at 185lbs before moving down to 170lbs. But then in 2023, he missed weight ahead of his fight against Gabe Green.
Despite that, he continued to attempt to make 170lbs in his next few fights before missing weight again in 2024 before his fight against Randy Brown.
Following that, he opted to move back up to middleweight in an attempt at putting a run together at that weight class.
However, Battle fell at the first hurdle, weighing in at 190lbs ahead of his UFC 319 fight against Ruziboev, resulting in their fight being canceled.
And with that being his third weight miss of his short UFC tenure, it was announced this Wednesday that he has officially been cut from the UFC roster.
Could Bryan Battle have become a title contender in the UFC?
Throughout his tenure, Battle showcased some solid striking fundamentals and had only suffered one loss in his four years with the promotion.
Having fought at both welterweight and middleweight, there is potential that he could’ve found himself in the top 10 of the rankings at either weight class, but his lack of professionalism has cost him in the long run.
