Reason for Jake Paul’s clash with Anthony Joshua collapsing reportedly revealed in Gervonta Davis fight news

Jake Paul now looks set to face a different boxing star to the one who appeared to be lined up as his next opponent.

Fans weren’t happy to learn that Paul had become the frontrunner to face Anthony Joshua in the heavyweight star’s return to the ring.

While the fight still had some big hurdles to clear before becoming official, it looked like this process was coming along following some meetings that took place.

All of a sudden, ‘The Problem Child’ has taken a drastically different route to take on another one of the sport’s biggest names.

An initially deleted post stated that Paul will face Gervonta Davis next time out, before more information was reported about this matchup.

Reports claim that Jake Paul’s fight with Anthony Joshua fell apart due to ‘network issues’

Shortly after the deleted post from Netflix Turkiye which showed a poster for Jake Paul facing Gervonta Davis later this year, reports quickly followed this up.

Mike Coppinger and the Ring Magazine reported that all of the information that some fans caught a glimpse of in the post is true.

Sources confirmed to Coppinger that Paul will compete against ‘Tank’ in an exhibition match on November 15 at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena.

The bout, which will be streamed live on Netflix, obviously came as a huge surprise, especially considering the star opponent that ‘The Problem Child’ has recently been linked with.

It goes without saying that Paul and his team going from talks with the former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to the current WBA lightweight titleholder is a massive pivot.

In his initial report on the fight, Coppinger noted that talks for a fight between Paul and Joshua fell through due to network issues.

It isn’t clear what exactly these issues were and which side they came from, though this information may end up being released in the near future.

Gervonta Davis’ originally planned opponent reacts to Jake Paul reports

In his latest outing, Gervonta Davis remained undefeated via a very controversial result.

‘Tank’ retained his WBA lightweight title after fighting to a draw with Lamont Roach Jr., with a rematch between them being expected to take place in August until several factors appeared to delay this.

It’s therefore not surprising that if Davis does go on to face Jake Paul in an exhibition match, Roach Jr. is going to be frustrated about the way that this has all played out.

He posted a short and simple reaction to the report breaking via X.

At this time, it remains to be seen what the official rules for the exhibition bout will be, with no official confirmation from the fighters or promoters yet.
