George St-Pierre’s response to $5M comeback offer leaked by UFC legend who wants to fight him

Georges St-Pierre is still getting lucrative comeback offers years after retiring from MMA.

The Canadian fight legend called time on his career after choking out Michael Bisping to become a two-weight champion at UFC 217 in November 2017.

Almost a decade later, people still want to see the former welterweight and middleweight UFC champion fight again.

Georges St-Pierre‘s response to a recent $5 million fight offer has been revealed by a fellow MMA legend who was hoping to fight him.

Georges St-Pierre rejected $5M comeback offer

Tyron Woodley is looking to fight for the first time since being badly knocked out by Jake Paul in December 2021.

The former UFC welterweight champion thought Georges St-Pierre was the perfect opponent for his comeback, but his $5 million offer to make that fight was politely rejected by the best 170lb fighter in MMA history.

“I offered ‘GSP’ $5 million to fight me in the Middle East,” Woodley told Action Network.

“I had an organization, and we was gonna promote a fight, for me and GSP. And he just flat out said, ‘Tyron, I’m not in that space anymore, I’m not fighting anymore. I appreciate the offer.’ I said, ‘Cool. Well, if you’re not in that space, we’re not.’

“It was nothing disrespectful, because he is the best welterweight of all time. He’s the greatest. So why would I not want to fight him? If I beat Georges St. Pierre, nobody would care about [my losses to] Gilbert Burns, Vicente Luque, Colby Covington, or Kamaru Usman.

“None of those losses matter. I’m the best welterweight of all time, so I was looking at it from that standpoint. I did think I could beat him. I never got a chance to prove it when I was at my peak.”

Tyron Woodley trashes Jack Della Maddalena

In the same interview, Tyron Woodley shared bold opinions on a variety of fight-related subjects.

Jake Paul’s most famous victim backed him to cause an upset if he fights Anthony Joshua next.

‘The Chosen One’ also laid into the current UFC welterweight champion, Jack Della Maddalena.

Woodley claimed Della Maddalena wouldn’t have been a top 10 fighter if he had competed in his era.

“[Jack Della Maddalena] wouldn’t even have been in my crosshairs,” he said.

“I wouldn’t have been looking at him in the scope. He wouldn’t have gone through Carlos [Condit]. He definitely wouldn’t have gotten through Robbie [Lawler]. ‘Wonderboy’ [Stephen Thompson] does better against pure strikers than all of us. His timing and his abilities, just to get in-out real quick, he would have beat him.

“I think he’s a good fighter. I never take away from people. It’s hard to win a championship, just because there’s so much pressure. But I can just think of ten people in my division at that time that wasn’t the champion that would have beat him.”
