Joe Rogan compares Dricus Du Plessis to dominant champion as he provides assessment of UFC 319 title fight

Ahead of the blockbuster main event at UFC 319 between Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev, Joe Rogan has provided his final assessment.

This coming Saturday, Khamzat Chimaev finally fights for UFC gold when he takes on Dricus Du Plessis in the UFC 319 main event in the promotion’s return to Chicago.

The fight is one of the most highly anticipated fights so far this year with fans and fighters split between Chimaev’s continued dominance or Du Plessis’ championship cardio.

This will mark Chimaev’s first fight in the United States since 2022, however, fans best not get too used to it as he has recently explained why he isn’t interested in fighting in America too often.

Joe Rogan offers final assessment of Du Plessis vs Chimaev

Returning for the blockbuster fight is UFC icon, Joe Rogan, who will be in the commentary booth after missing out on UFC 318 last month.

Just a few days out from the clash in the Windy City, Rogan has given his final assessment of the fight, comparing Du Plessis to fellow dominant UFC champion, Merab Dvalishvili.

“He’s a monster, and you know this (Matt Serra) because you work with Merab, there’s guys that reach this level of discipline and they achieve a level of cardio vascular performance that’s just above everybody else’s and then they maintain it,” Rogan started to explain.

“The amount of hard work is extraordinary to get to that level and I think Dricus is kind of a similar thing, I think that dude works so hard that he can go out and fight full blast.

“He’s a great champion… He could definitely win it. I could see either one of these guys winning this fight. It’s gonna be interesting to see if it gets into deep water… Khamzat’s speed is a big factor with his hand speed… What he did to Gerald Meerschaert is pretty f—— scary too.

“(Khamzat) is good standing up and that’s where it’s gonna be weird, that’s where I wanna see because Du Plessis makes everyone look stupid, he finds a way to get you,” Rogan continued.

Khamzat Chimaev addresses inactivity concern ahead of UFC 319

Not long ago, UFC legend Din Thomas claimed that Chimaev winning the title would be a ‘disaster’ for the promotion considering his recent inactivity.

Despite that, UFC boss Dana White shut down that claim by stating that he isn’t worried about that.

And with that, Chimaev recently stated that if he wins the title this Saturday, he would like to defend the strap later this year in Abu Dhabi.
