If anybody knew about Conor McGregor’s UFC release, it’d be Dana White.
It’s 2025 and superstar Conor McGregor is still missing from the Octagon.
The former two-division champion hasn’t fought since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier four years ago at UFC 264 and has since withdrawn from a booking against Michael Chandler last summer.
McGregor recently spoke out following news of the UFC’s broadcast deal with Paramount, saying ‘Long live the Irish king’.
This week, fans feared the worst for McGregor’s potential return after UFC Roster Tracker reported that McGregor had been removed from the active roster, which in other cases, would suggest a fighter was no longer in the promotion or retired.
It didn’t take long for the UFC boss to see the news floating around.

Dana White denies reports that Conor McGregor isn’t in UFC
Despite their name, UFC Roster Tracker isn’t actually associated with the UFC, but tracks the promotion’s roster from UFC.com.
On Thursday, UFC CEO Dana White was quick to point out that McGregor’s name had not been removed from the roster.
“Total B——-,” White wrote under a report on Instagram (via Happy Punch).
Confirmed to be signed to the UFC, McGregor still has two fights left on his current contract.
Conor McGregor’s last win came over 5 years ago
Once the UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion of the world, McGregor hasn’t had his hand raised since before the COVID-19 pandemic put the world on lockdown.
McGregor’s latest victory was a 40-second TKO of UFC Hall of Famer Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246 in 2020.
With the feat, McGregor became the second fighter in UFC history to score knockouts at three weight classes.
However, it is worth noting Cerrone never went on to win any fight after, retiring from MMA on a seven-fight winless skid in 2023.
McGregor, 37, is 1-3 in his last four fights, with back-to-back losses to Dustin Poirier.
