‘What number?’… Logan Paul discovers Jon Jones reportedly rejected huge payday for Tom Aspinall fight

Logan Paul was shocked by what happened before Jon Jones briefly retired from MMA.

The greatest of all time was expected to face Tom Aspinall in a heavyweight unification bout later this year.

According to Dana White, a deal for the fight was struck before Jon Jones backed out and retired.

The former light heavyweight and heavyweight champion quickly completed a retirement U-turn after learning that the UFC will host an event at the White House in July 2026.

Logan Paul learns Jon Jones rejected $30M offer

On Tuesday, Logan Paul shared a 76-minute podcast with veteran MMA reporter Ariel Helwani.

The respected journalist was asked to provide an update on Jones vs. Aspinall. Helwani believes the fight could still happen, even after ‘Bones’ annoyed his boss by allegedly demanding and then walking away from a $30 million deal.

“My information is that he gave the UFC a price tag,” Helwani said.

Paul inquired: “What number?”

Helwani added: “I believe it’s in the $30 million range for this fight, which, by the way, I think he deserves. I think he deserves more than that.”

Paul’s co-host, Mike Majlak, wondered if any other fighter in UFC history had ever been guaranteed such a monumental payday.

“I doubt it,” the YouTuber-turned-WWE star replied.

Helwani believes Jones suggested $30 million because he didn’t really want to fight Aspinall.

“I think he didn’t think they would come up with that number,” he continued.

“They did, and then he said, ‘Yes’. Two or three days later, he said, ‘Nah, on second thought, I’m out.’

“That’s why when he announced his retirement, Dana said, ‘He gave me his word, and then he went back on his word.’

“I think he was hoping that they would not meet the number, and then he could be like, ‘I tried, they just didn’t wanna pay me.’

Jon Jones’ next fight

Dana White recently shut down Jon Jones’ White House comeback dream, insisting he ‘can’t risk’ putting the flaky fighter in such an important spot.

The 38-year-old MMA legend was ‘disappointed’ by White’s comments, but refused to rule out competing on the 4th of July card.

Since then, Jones has re-entered the drug testing pool to make his potential UFC return a real possibility.

He’ll be watching closely when Tom Aspinall takes on Ciryl Gane in the UFC 321 main event on October 26.
