A few weeks ago at UFC Abu Dhabi, top middleweight prospect Shara ‘Bullet’ Magomedov suffered a brutal injury.
After suffering the first loss of his career earlier this year at UFC Saudi Arabia, Shara ‘Bullet’ Magomedov was booked to return at UFC Abu Dhabi against Marc-Andre Barriault.
The Russian striker went on to return to the win column after overcoming some early adversity in the fight, and during their scrap that won Fight of the Month, ‘Bullet’ suffered a brutal injury.
After being smashed with a huge right hand and follow up shots in round two, Barriault broke Magomedov’s nose.

Shara Magomedov provides injury update
Almost immediately after his fight, Magomedov underwent surgery to fix his broken nose instead of leaving it and fixing it over time.
And now just a few weeks removed from his successful surgery, Shara ‘Bullet’ has provided an update on how his surgery and recovery is going.
“There was a moment when I was listening to my coaches and realized something was wrong with my nose as they were shouting ‘Don’t breathe through your nose, breathe through your mouth’,” he told Red Corner MMA.
“I heard that when we were in the clinch and realized that something was wrong with my nose I took a shot and was trying to stay composed. I didn’t even understand what exactly landed so when they told me not to breathe through my nose I knew something was up with it.
“I started breathing through my mouth, and you know what, it’s been a long time since this fight happened and I only started breathing through my nose and blowing it yesterday.
I couldn’t breathe or blow my nose for two weeks, I could only breathe through my mouth since he hit me, up until yesterday,” he continued to explain.
What’s next for Shara Magomedov?
It is likely that in his next fight, the Russian will be matched up against a top 15 middleweight again, in an attempt to get him back into the rankings.
Number 11 ranked contender Roman Dolidze suffered a loss this past weekend, and that is a fight that could make sense for both fighters in their next outings.
