Michael Chandler reveals Conor McGregor’s UFC White House return is unlikely following conversations with the UFC

According to Michael Chandler, Conor McGregor’s potential return at the UFC’s White House event next year is unlikely to happen.

Any hope of Conor McGregor returning to UFC action seemed dead in the water until Donald Trump announced that the promotion is set to host an event at the White House next year.

After that, McGregor made it very clear that he wanted to return on that card and UFC boss Dana White seemed open to the idea of it.

Although fans doubted the Irishman’s desire to actually return, he made a big leap towards his comeback, officially re-entering the testing pool.

Chandler pours cold water on McGregor White House comeback

Recently, McGregor vowed to be the fittest president in history, claiming he will make his comeback to the UFC to prove his fitness.

However, his longtime rival, Michael Chandler, who will be hoping that McGregor returns so they can finally settle their feud, has poured cold water on ‘The Notorious’ return.

“That Octagon on the White House lawn has my name on it,” Chandler told Ariel Helwani.

“Of course that’s the one I want but every single person on the entire roster wants that fight so I realize that I as well as every person on the roster is gunning for that card.

“You’ve got Jon Jones coming out of retirement and entering the testing pool, you’ve got Conor McGregor entering the testing pool right after.

“I’ve spoken to the UFC about it, they know I wanna be on that card… Opponent to be determined but we shall see.

“I know I want to fight at the White House, I would love to fight against Conor that’s definitely a platform that would get Conor on the straight and narrow to get focused on getting back into the Octagon… If you’re a betting man, I wouldn’t bet on (McGregor coming back),” Chandler continued.

Who else could Chandler fight at the White House?

If Chandler doesn’t end up fighting the Irishman on the White House event, there are still several options for him, despite his rough run in the promotion.

A fight between Chandler and Renato Moicano would be guaranteed fireworks, and is typically the type of fight that should be filling the undercard of such a spectacular one-of-a-kind event.
