Dana White has detailed a recent conversation he had with Conor McGregor as the Irishman continues to gear up for a UFC return.
It seemed extremely unlikely that Conor McGregor would ever return to the UFC following his leg break in 2021 and subsequent UFC 303 fight fallout against Michael Chandler.
However, Donald Trump then announced that the UFC will be hosting an event at the White House in July 2026, which the former UFC double champion wants in on, and he immediately sent Dana White a message.
‘The Notorious’ then took a huge step towards actually making his return when he re-entered the drug testing pool, confirming his plans to return to action.

Dana White details recent conversation with Conor McGregor
This past Monday, the UFC announced a huge new broadcast deal worth $7.7 billion, seeing Paramount now hold the broadcasting rights to the promotion in the United States.
Not long after the announcements, Dana White talked about the impact of the deal, claiming that we’re more likely to see fighters like Jon Jones and McGregor return following the deal.
And during an interview with Pardon My Take, White detailed a recent conversation he had with McGregor, with the Irishman now seemingly back in training ahead of a return.
“I mean, if you see, he’s been posting videos of himself training, he’s back in the pool now, he wants the White House fight,” White told Pardon My Take.
“Listen, if he starts getting in shape and starts training and stays the course, that’s the fight he wants, he keeps telling me he wants that fight so we’ll see how it plays out over the next few months,” White continued.
McGregor has been extremely active on social media posting videos of him training, and he has been slammed by UFC legend Chael Sonnen for his shadow-boxing videos.
Chandler doubts McGregor’s UFC return
Despite it seeming as though ‘The Notorious’ is serious about returning this time around, especially for such a huge event, it has been doubted by his longtime rival.
Michael Chandler has admitted that he doesn’t think McGregor will return, despite having re-entered the testing pool and returned to training.
With the event not scheduled until July 4 next year, only time will tell whether the Irishman continues his recent regime and finally makes his anticipated return.
