Dan Hooker slams ‘semi-conscious’ Charles Oliveira after UFC Rio fight rejection claim

The recent feud between Charles Oliveira and Dan Hooker continues on, and Hooker has slammed the Brazilian’s recent claim.

Last week, it was announced by the UFC that former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira will return in October to headline UFC Rio against Rafael Fiziev.

The fight news came as a shock to the fanbase considering it hasn’t been long since Oliveira was knocked out cold by Ilia Topuria at UFC 317.

Not only have fans registered their concern for ‘Do Bronx’ but UFC legend Daniel Cormier has also explained why he is concerned for the Brazilian.

Hooker slams Oliveira following fight rejection claim

Although it seems like a quick turnaround for the 35-year-old, his last fight in Brazil came under extremely unfortunate circumstances, and he wanted to make his return.

Initially, though, Oliveira claimed he struggled to find an opponent, claiming that longtime ranked lightweight Dan Hooker turned down the fight.

However, in response to Oliveira, ‘The Hangman’ has utterly flamed the Brazilian, questioning why he would turn down the fight when Oliveira is still ‘semi-conscious’.

“You really think that’s how that phone call went? ‘Do you want to fight semi-conscious Charles Oliveira’ and I say ‘Oh no, I’m scared of Charlie Olives’ lifeless body flying around the cage’,” Hooker said to UFC on Sky.

“I was never offered that fight, I require medical clearance I was not medically cleared for October… Now I don’t know if he could give me Dr.Doolittle’s number or whatever veterinary clinic he went to, to sign off his brain, because if he put his brain, it would still be mashed potatoes in an MRI machine,” Hooker said.

Oliveira sent a message to everyone doubting him

Throughout his career, Oliveira has faced doubters more often than not, especially as he got off to a rough start during his tenure in the UFC.

Despite that, time and time again, the Brazilian has always proved doubters wrong, even to the extent of coming back to win the lightweight title.

And with him being doubted again ahead of UFC Rio, ‘Do Bronx’ has sent his doubters a message, claiming ‘A wounded lion is still a lion’.
