‘Smash his face in’… Michael Bisping backs Dillon Danis’ opponent Warren Spencer in MMA comeback

Michael Bisping has told Warren Spencer that he must ‘smash his face in’ when he takes on Dillon Danis this month.

The legendary former UFC middleweight champion has had a long-standing feud with Danis, who is finally coming back to MMA for the first time in six years on August 30. The New Yorker is 2-0 as a professional, but injuries and other issues have cost him the prime years of his career.

Danis is one of the most notorious trolls in the sport, and has gone back-and-forth at Bisping among other legends of the sport over the years. So when the Brit met with his countryman Spencer in Thailand, he sent a message of support to ‘The Mechanic’.

Michael Bisping offers backing to Warren Spencer for Dillon Danis showdown

Michael Bisping has been spending the last few days in Thailand, and visited a class at Bangtao where he was introduced to Warren Spencer. The Brit is facing Dillon Danis on August 30 in a ground-breaking ‘Misfits MMA’ fight, where the pair will have an MMA fight inside a boxing ring.

“Oh s— no way, you’re fighting Dillon? What ruleset?” Bisping asked, to which Spencer replied that it was full MMA, despite the fact that he is just a boxer. “Just stop the takedowns,” Bisping advised. “So you’re a boxer and he picked you? You know what he’s doing there.

“It’s in a ring so he’ll struggle to take you down a bit more in a ring. Good luck, mate. All the best. You better smash his face in Dillon the d—-.”

Dillon Danis’ comeback opponent had secret MMA fight years before historic Misfits bout

While Spencer insists that he is ‘a boxer’ given his Misfits Boxing background, he has actually competed in the cage before. He took part in an eight-week training program before taking on Jake Johno at an Ultra MMA event in 2023.

A key factor in the two minutes of footage is the lack of time spent on the ground as both men stayed up looking for a finish. Spencer is clearly the more fluid combat athlete, and can be seen landing clean and forcing his rival to at times put up his arms in a desperate plea for mercy.

Eventually, with just under two minutes on the clock, the referee steps in during a Spencer flurry and the camera cuts. The next footage is Spencer having his hand raised, with the result being revealed to have happened at some point in the first round.
