The Slovakian went 7-1 in the promotion, winning his last three contests, with the most recent of which coming in Abu Dhabi just two weeks ago.

Even Buday’s last opponent, Marcus Buchecha was left sad at the UFC’s decision.

However, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist has landed on his feet, securing a huge showdown.

Martin Buday will fight Will Fleury for the Oktagon title

Martin Buday made a surprise appearance at Oktagon 74 inside the Štvanice stadium in Prague, Czech Republic, where he entered the cage alongside reigning heavyweight champion Will Fleury.

‘Badys’ signed his contract with the promotion there and then, with the pair agreeing to go to war in a major clash later this year.

Following the huge announcement, the popular fighter opened up about his decision to return to the promotion in which he made his name.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, he enthused: “Oktagon is the number one organization in Europe, and it was my home before I entered the UFC. So, I love to come back and I’m here to take the belt that I left here when I left. You can expect big things.

“First of all, I respect Will; he’s a good fighter and a good guy. My prediction is I will finish him and take my belt back.”
