Duncan and Eryk Anders helped kick off the action on the UFC Vegas 109 main card on Saturday at the Apex. Both middleweights were looking to move a step closer to a Top 15 spot with a victory.

What ensued was a brutal knockout finish by Duncan that left Anders needing many stitches to repair the damage.

Christian Leroy Duncan opened up a nasty gash on Eryk Anders with spinning elbow

Over a minute into the first round, Duncan landed a beautifully-timed spinning back elbow to Anders’ face that snapped his head back. As a visibly stunned Anders attempted to circle and shake off the cobwebs, Duncan stalked him with a barrage of punches before earning the TKO finish.

It was a stunning highlight finish for Duncan, who earned his first stoppage win since March 2024. He’s now won four of his last five fights following the win over Anders at UFC Vegas 109.

Luckily for Anders, he was able to leave the Octagon under his own power and without additional assistance. But as soon as Anders left the cage, he had to get immediate medical attention to treat a brutal gash on his browline.

UFC CEO Dana White took to his Instagram story to upload graphic images of Anders’s laceration.

UFC Vegas 109 was a disappointing setback for Anders after retiring former UFC champ Chris Weidman at UFC 310 in December. He won back-to-back fights before UFC Vegas 109, including a unanimous decision win over Jamie Pickett.

Duncan’s knockout win wasn’t the only stunning highlight from an action-packed night at the Apex.

Son of TUF legend stole the show with slam KO at UFC Vegas 109

UFC bantamweight Elijah Smith, the son of former The Ultimate Fighter standout Gilbert Smith, earned a rare slam knockout during the UFC Vegas 109 prelims. Smith hoisted Toshiomi Kazama over his head with an inside triangle, before slamming Kazama on the back of his head, knocking him out cold.

It was a scary sight at the UFC Apex as Kazama was immediately rushed to a local hospital following the knockout. It was a knockout that left former two-division champ Henry Cejudo jokingly considering a move out of the bantamweight division.

Joselyn Edwards fulfilled Daniel Cormier’s prediction with a brutal KO of Priscila Cachoeira in a women’s bantamweight bout. Welterweight Uros Medic kept up his remarkable stoppage streak with a knockout of Gilbert Urbina.
