‘I keep getting calls’ … Al Iaquinta addresses reality of UFC return after retiring at 34

At his peak, Al Iaquinta was the #4-ranked UFC lightweight in the world.

Happily retired from the fight game, ‘Raging’ Al is now a full-time real estate agent out of Long Island, New York.

Iaquinta fought the likes of the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jorge Masvidal, Dan Hooker, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, and more marquee names across his 9-year UFC tenure.

Iaquinta laid down the gloves at 34 years old, with the fan-favorite saying ‘this s—‘s not worth it’ after a TKO loss to King Green at Madison Square Garden in Nov. 2021.

Nearly four years removed from his retirement decision, Iaquinta says he still trains MMA with the team at Serra-Longo, but obviously not as much as he used to.

As a former top-5 contender in arguably the UFC’s deepest division, could Iaquinta mount a comeback at 38 years old?

On Wednesday, Iaquinta joked about the idea of a potential return to the Octagon.

Realistically, however, Iaquinta says his days of fighting in the UFC are most likely over.

“I don’t think so,” Iaquinta told Bloody Elbow, when asked about possibly coming out of retirement.

“I don’t know. I keep getting calls from…

“We’ll see, but I don’t think so,” Iaquinta said.

“I’m so busy in real estate and doing so well.

“I’ve got such a great team there with the Serra-Longo guys. I go into the gym, I help out a little bit, I train, keep my juices flowing, keep my sanity in the gym…

“But then I’ve got the other side, the business side which is just growing leaps and bounds every day. Watch and see where it’s going to go next,” Iaquinta said of his real estate business.

Al Iaquinta finds silver lining between fighting and real estate

Iaquinta had been a real estate agent long before he retired from the UFC.

In recent years, the business has completely changed for ‘Raging’ Al since he transitioned to full-time.

“Being able to dedicate myself to the real estate, the way I was dedicated to fighting—there’s not a broker [or] agent on Long Island or in the country that could hang with me,” Iaquinta said.

“I really, truly believe that…

“I was thirsty for knowledge. Every move, every technique, every bit of an advantage I wanted to gain in the fighting space… I’m now switched over,” Iaquinta explained.

“It’s so similar, the real estate game and the fight game. I built a great team around me in real estate, just like I had with the Serra-Longo fight team. I have some great agents with me.”
