The UFC’s middleweight champion has emerged as one of the most ruthless trash talkers in the sport.
Dricus du Plessis has built a reputation for delivering some scathing comments during UFC press conferences that have gotten to his opponents.
While he’s stated that he doesn’t come into these exchanges with the intention of getting under his opponent’s skin, the South African seems to have a natural talent for doing just that.
The likes of Shara Magomedov have been in du Plessis’ sights as of late, but his attention is set to be diverted in just under 10 days’ time.
When fans saw an old clip of du Plessis on the mic, they admitted that they are counting down the days until his first UFC 319 press conference with Khamzat Chimaev.

Dricus du Plessis savagely went after his opponent in EFC by bringing up his personal life
As we’ve seen during his rivalries with the likes of Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya, Dricus du Plessis has no problem making things personal ahead of a fight.
While some fans have criticized the middleweight champion for his pre-fight comments in the past that can certainly be divisive, others have praised his ruthlessness on the mic.
There is another notable example from before he was in the UFC, where the South African served up some scathing personal comments to his opponent.
Before signing to Polish promotion KSW in 2018, du Plessis competed for and won the EFC middleweight title in his home country.
At EFC 62, he faced off with Yannick Bahati where in the pre-fight press conference, he attacked his opponent’s personal life.
“Well maybe you can give me some attention. I watched that countdown show, obviously your own son hasn’t been getting too much attention. Your own son hasn’t been getting too much attention so maybe you can give me some attention.”
When du Plessis was asked by his opponent to say it again, he was more than happy to oblige.
“Maybe you can be a better daddy to me than your own son. That would be great.”

Fans react to Dricus du Plessis’ scathing press conference comments in EFC
While it took some time before fans saw this side of Dricus du Plessis in the UFC, this press conference shows that he’s never been afraid to go after his opponents with verbal warfare.
As you’d expect from such a personal attack, the comments clearly bothered his opponent, who would go on to be submitted by ‘Stillknocks’ in 90 seconds.
‘DDP has been a savage from the beginning. He can trash talk really well.’
‘F— he’s a savage, bro speaks nothing but facts and doubles down, that’s why they cry.’
‘I’m dying for this press conference vs Khamzat.’
