‘Leaving with my head up’…. UFC heavyweight shockingly cut after 7-1 run breaks silence on social media

Heavyweight contender Martin Buday has confirmed his release from the UFC.

Last weekend, he picked up an upset win over BJJ legend Marcus Buchecha at UFC Abu Dhabi.

The victory seemingly moved the ranked heavyweight one step closer to his world title dream.

On Thursday, it was reported that the UFC has opted against re-signing Martin Buday after his latest contract expired.

The news came as a massive shock because Buday boasted a 7-1 record inside the Octagon.

A December 2023 TKO loss to Shamil Gaziev was the only blip during his impressive UFC run.

Buday kept it classy when he broke his silence to confirm his UFC release on social media.

“Yeah, it’s true,” he tweeted.

“Yesterday we got a call that @ufc is not resigning us for the moment…

“Well, it is what it is, at least I’m leaving with my head up. Thank you”

Fans support Martin Buday

Buday’s comment section was flooded with furious fans who were stunned by the UFC’s decision to release him.

“They did u so wrong, Martin,” one fan said. While another added: It’s bulls—, you’re on a streak!

“7-1 UFC, 1-0 Contender Series. You deserve better,” a third fan wrote.

“How do u win… and not get resigned?! What did they want to see?” someone else wrote.

“Didn’t bro just get 12th ranking? Lmao wtf,” another confused X user commented.

“This is the most unfair decision I have ever seen in the UFC. A respectful and professional ranked fighter with a 7-1 record in a category that needs new blood. I hope Dana White would reconsider it,” a sixth fan fumed.
