What seemed like it would never happen again now has serious potential as Conor McGregor continues to make steps towards a UFC comeback.
After breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in his last UFC fight in 2021, it seemed to be a strong possibility that it would be the last time Conor McGregor would step into the UFC Octagon.
Despite that, his miraculous return was then announced to take place in June last year at International Fight Week, as he was scheduled to finally fight Michael Chandler after their roles on The Ultimate Fighter.
However, just a few weeks out from the event, McGregor pulled out due to a broken toe which seemed to almost guarantee that he wouldn’t ever return.

McGregor officially back in the testing pool as he gears up for return
After years of claiming that he will make a highly anticipated comeback, talks have never seemed to get out of the rumor phase as he hadn’t re-entered the drug testing pool following his UFC 303 withdrawal.
But then, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the UFC will be holding a mega event at the White House next July which resulted in McGregor once again claiming that he will return to action.
With that, he claimed that he had officially re-entered the drug testing pool when he posted images online of him providing blood and urine samples on board his mega yacht.
And just a week later, McGregor’s claims have been proven true as according to the UFC Anti-Doping database, he has officially registered one test session as he gears up for his return to the sport after over six years away.
Who will McGregor make his UFC comeback against?
Recently, UFC boss Dana White revealed that he is set to meet up with ‘The Notorious’ in Italy to talk about his potential return and to iron out the details.
The former UFC double champion is never short of fighters wanting to fight him, not only because of the payday that comes with it, but because of the fact that there will likely be millions of eyeballs glued to his return.
At this point, it seems likely that if and when the Irishman returns to action, he will grant ‘Iron’ Chandler the fight that he has waited years for.
