Doctor Mike has very serious concerns about the rise of slap fighting as a sport.
The medical physician – real name Mikhail Varshavski – knows all about the benefits of combat sports after lacing up the gloves twice for boxing bouts.
However, he’s also acutely aware of the scary consequences of taking repeated blows to the head.
So, naturally, he’s not a fan of slap fighting or the Power Slap league launched by Dana White in 2023.

Doctor Mike condemns slap fighting
Doctor Mike, who is known for his YouTube videos, recently sat down with Ariel Helwani.
Varshavski wasn’t shy about offering his opinion when asked about the controversial sport of slap fighting.
“Someone needs to come out and speak out against it,” he said.
“It needs to be stopped. I’m actually filming a video on the topic right now. Not just slap, but the most dangerous sports.
“For me, it takes the worst part of combat sports and accelerates it. Why is boxing problematic? Repeated blows to the head if somebody is not protecting themselves.
“Here, the whole point is to not protect yourself and take blows. It literally taking the unhealthiest aspect and removing the healthiest aspect, which is all the cardio and training that is required to box.”
Joe Rogan shares his thoughts on Power Slap
Joe Rogan has been the best of friends with Dana White since he took over the UFC in 2001.
The legendary commentator and popular podcaster rarely has anything negative to say about White.
Still, Rogan can’t hide his hatred of Power Slap when he speaks about the UFC CEO’s bizarre league.
“Slap to me, slap is not my thing, they’re just standing there and letting the other guy smack you in the face, it’s f—— crazy. I will watch it, I’ll watch it, but I really prefer actual fights,” Rogan recently said.
“Why do they put the powder on their hand? It’s hilarious. They have drug tests, which, to me, is hilarious.
“It’s like, drug those people up. Why are they sober? You’re getting slapped; you should be on meth.
“It’s the perfect sport for TikTok, I say sport with air quotes.”
