Paddy Pimblett recalls leaving Daniel Cormier stunned with pre-fight prediction that came true at UFC 314

Paddy Pimblett knew exactly what was going to happen in his biggest fight to date.

‘The Baddy’ brutalized Michael Chandler en route to a third-round TKO win at UFC 314 in April.

Paddy Pimblett even predicted that he’d be able to take down his college wrestler opponent.

The lightweight contender recently recalled leaving Daniel Cormier stunned with his pre-fight prediction.

Paddy Pimblett knew he’d outwrestle Michael Chandler

Paddy Pimblett recently trained with the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall.

During their time together, the two Englishmen broke down the UFC 314 co-main event.

Pimblett recalled catching Daniel Cormier off guard with a confident pre-fight wrestling prediction.

“I remember speaking to ‘DC’ the day before,” he said.

“I’m like, ‘Lad, I’ll take him down.’

“He’s like, ‘What? You think you’ll take Michael Chandler down?’

“Yeah!’ They think they are better than anything.

“I was like, ‘I’ll take him down. Don’t worry about that.’

“It’s the same with Justin [Gaethje]. If I fight Gaethje, I’ll take him down.

“I’m not a—d if he wrestled in high school.”

Paddy Pimblett’s next fight

Paddy Pimblett would usually need another win to earn a title shot as he’s currently ranked at #9.

However, his long-running beef with lightweight king Ilia Topuria has people calling for that fight in 2025.

The UFC stars clashed during a heated face-off after Topuria won the vacant 155lb belt at UFC 317.

After Jon Jones’ retirement, Pimblett called for the ‘biggest fight the UFC can make’ right now.

“Now that Jon Jones is retired, I think it’s the biggest fight the UFC can make,” Pimblett told One-on-One MMA.

“Now there’s no Jon Jones and they can’t do him and Tom [Aspinall], so it wouldn’t surprise me if I’ve got the belt in six to 12 months.”

At the time of writing, it’s currently unclear if Pimblett or someone else will get the next crack at Topuria.
