Colby Covington pays tribute to Hulk Hogan after late WWE star carried flag in last UFC fight

UFC’s Colby Covington has paid his respects to Hulk Hogan.

The American WWE superstar passed away on Thursday, at the age of 71. His real name Terry Bollea, Hogan died after suffering a cardiac arrest. TMZ was first to report the news.

Hogan was one of the biggest names in the world of pro wrestling, with many UFC fighters sending their condolences from a sport across.

It wasn’t that long ago when Hogan made the walk to the Octagon at UFC Tampa in December, not to fight, but instead he carried the American flag for Colby Covington, the only UFC champion to be invited to the White House.

A last hurrah for Hogan, months before his passing.

On Thursday, former UFC interim welterweight champion Covington paid tribute to Hogan and the impact he had on him and so many others.

“Thank you for inspiring a whole generation of Real Americans Hulkster,” Covington posted a photo of him walking out with Hogan at UFC Tampa on his Instagram.

“Hulkamania will live forever.”

Regardless of his TKO loss result against Joaquin Buckley at UFC Tampa, Covington had one of the best UFC walk-outs of 2024 with coach Chael Sonnen and Hogan by his side, carrying the American flag.

What Hulk Hogan said to Colby Covington at UFC Tampa

Covington and Hogan got the chance to talk in the locker room before they made the walk to the Octagon.

Covington shared behind-the-scenes footage of the encounter to his YouTube channel.

“Honestly, for me, I’d rather walk behind you out of respect,” Hogan told Covington.

“That’s my deal, bro. This is your night, your kingdom. I’m here to support,” Hogan said.

“This is your kingdom,” Covington replied.

“This is your city, I’m happy you came,” Covington added.

“It’d be an honor if you can walk side-by-side, I want you by my side going into war,” said Covington.

“Got my American flag, that’s what you’re all about,” Hogan responded.
