Tom Aspinall claims UFC 321 title fight against Ciryl Gane will be ‘one of the most exciting heavyweight fights ever’

Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane are widely considered to be two of the fastest UFC heavyweights of all time and fans will finally see them clash in October.

This past Tuesday, UFC boss Dana White took to Instagram live to announce several blockbuster fights and during the announcement, he announced that Tom Aspinall will defend his title against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321.

Aspinall was upgraded to the undisputed champion not long ago after Jon Jones finally announced his UFC retirement, walking away from a potential fight against the Brit.

Despite that, shortly after Jones revealed that he had re-entered the testing pool and was going to work towards making a comeback next July on the epic event targeted to take place at the White House.

Aspinall claims fight against Gane will be ‘one of the most exciting heavyweight fights ever’

Having already been out of action for over a year waiting for ‘Bones’ to make his decision, Tom Aspinall decided he wasn’t going to wait any longer and after being upgraded to the undisputed champion, vowed to keep the division moving.

Unfortunately for the Brit, though, the heavyweight division is currently one of the most shallow in the sport, and there aren’t many contenders to fight that make sense.

And with that, the UFC picking Ciryl Gane to fight for the title next has caused some controversy, considering his last fight against Alexander Volkov was a questionable result that even White admitted should’ve been scored for Volkov.

Despite that, Aspinall and Gane have somewhat of a history as ‘Bon Gamin’ has turned down the Brit on several occasions.

And with them now finally being matched together, Aspinall has claimed that it will be ‘one of the most exciting heavyweight fights ever’ as the two are widely regarded as the fastest strikers in heavyweight history.

“I think both me and Ciryl are very, we both have a niche style for heavyweights, we don’t fight like heavyweights, both of us, so this could be the fastest, the best moving heavyweight fight that anybody has ever seen,” Aspinall claimed.

“We’re both good movers, we’re both light on our feet, we’re both elusive so this is gonna be great.

“I think it’s gonna be one of the most exciting heavyweight fights ever, we’re very evenly matched… It’s gonna be a crazy bit of heavyweight action,” he continued.

Aspinall vows to remove Gane from the heavyweight picture forever

This will mark Ciryl Gane’s third undisputed title fight in his UFC tenure, with many fans thinking that it is relatively undeserving.

And with that, Aspinall has vowed to remove Gane from the heavyweight title picture for good, opening up room for a new contender in the division.
