With the help of his coaches, Max Holloway came out on top in the main event of UFC 318 this past Saturday night.

The fans in New Orleans were there to support his opponent, with Holloway writing a heartfelt tribute to Dustin Poirier following his retirement.

It was an important win for ‘Blessed’ to bounce back from the first knockout loss of his career now that he has committed to staying at lightweight.

Fans have already speculated on what is next for Holloway but that wasn’t the first thing on his mind after leaving the arena on July 19.

Max Holloway shares his final thoughts on the night of UFC 318 from his hotel

On his YouTube channel, Max Holloway posted the last instalment in his “Blessed Era: Countdown to Holloway vs Poirier” series.

The video shows ‘Blessed’ preparing backstage with behind the scenes footage of his various interactions with Dustin Poirier and others after sharing the Octagon with ‘The Diamond’ for the final time.

After speaking at the post-fight press conference, the video ends with him and his family getting back on the coach to be transported to the hotel, or whatever accommodation he was staying in during his trip to New Orleans.

The very next clip shows the BMF champion sitting around the TV with his close friends and family as he intently watches the fight back.

Holloway capped off the series by sharing his final thoughts on the night while being in the pool alongside his wife.

“I feel good. Feel good. Like I said man, we came here to be spoiler all week. We did just that, but to fight a guy like Dustin Poirier in his final fight, it’s just amazing man.

“He’s not only a great fighter, he’s a greater person so all love and respect to him and his family. Look what he did man. He brought it back to his city, he did it his way. Nothing but love and respect to him.”

The behind the scenes footage shows several conversations between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier following the completion of their trilogy.

In one of their interactions, ‘Blessed’ referenced wanting to collaborate with his opponent to contribute towards Poirier’s charity, the Good Fight Foundation.

‘The Diamond’ suggested that they do something to help people in Holloway’s home of Hawaii, before the BMF champion revealed a potential plan in their final exchange of the video.

“I want to, my gloves, I want to give them to you guys. So, before I leave, I’m going to get it to you guys. Of course.”
