Max Holloway gets shock call-out from UFC star who KO’ed Dustin Poirier in 95 seconds

BMF Champion Max Holloway received an interesting fight offer at UFC 318.

Hawaii’s Holloway became the first fighter to successfully defend the BMF title when he defeated Dustin Poirier by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 318.

There’s no shortage of fun fights for Holloway at lightweight after retiring Poirier. ‘Blessed’ could potentially rematch lightweight champion Ilia Topuria, who handed him his first knockout loss of his career at UFC 308.

Fighting on Holloway’s undercard, a 31-fight UFC veteran threw his name in the hat to face the BMF Champion.

Michael Johnson wants to fight Max Holloway after winning at UFC 318

Michael Johnson has fought a murderer’s row at 155 lbs.

Johnson has been in the UFC since 2010, fighting the likes of the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson, Nate Diaz and Justin Gaethje. One of Johnson’s most notable victories is a first-round knockout of Dustin Poirier back in 2016.

Johnson pulled off a massive upset win on the UFC 318 main card, defeating highly-touted prospect Daniel Zellhuber by unanimous decision.

Post-fight, Johnson expressed his desire to fight the best, and as Holloway always says, ‘The best is blessed’.

“I’ve been throwing the idea around: me and Max Holloway,” Johnson told Bloody Elbow and other reporters at the UFC 318 post-fight press conference.

“He’s one of the best fighters to ever come across the division.

“I’ve told everybody from the day one in this organization, I wanna fight the best of the best and Max Holloway is one of the best.

“That’ll be a fun five round fight for me and him to do,” Johnson added.

A former top-5 contender, Johnson is currently unranked, but the 39-year-old is riding a three-fight win streak.

Michael Johnson snapped Dustin Poirier’s four-fight win streak

Johnson gave Poirier his first loss at lightweight in 2016, in the five-round main event of UFC Hidalgo.

‘The Menace’ needed only 95 seconds to KO Poirier in the opening round and years after, the win has aged beautifully.

Poirier didn’t lose again until he fought Khabib Nurmagomedov for the title in 2019.

Poirier likely would have made it a title fight much sooner had he not been knocked out by Johnson, who took his four-fight win streak.
