The BMF champion didn’t have any elaborate post-fight plans in place following UFC 318.
In the immediate aftermath of Saturday night’s main event, Max Holloway was annoyed to have not received a bonus for fight of the night.
The conclusion of his trilogy with Dustin Poirier was always going to deliver another incredible installment in both men’s phenomenal careers.
While Poirier was shocked by the scorecards at the end of five rounds, both men gave great accounts of themselves in the BMF title fight on July 19.
Via his YouTube channel, Holloway gave fans a look behind the scenes, with many drawing attention to one particular part of the video.
Fans react to Max Holloway instantly watching his UFC 318 fight back after leaving the arena
Max Holloway seemingly didn’t want to wait too long before admiring his handiwork after beating Dustin Poirier for the first time in his career.
Not only did this win stop him from going 0-3 in two different trilogies, it allowed ‘Blessed’ to bounce back from the first knockout loss of his career.
While he downplayed Poirier’s guillotine attempt, Holloway had to overcome some adversity in the fight, especially in the second round which ended with ‘The Diamond’ raining down elbows to try and get the finish.

Despite this, Holloway was clearly proud of his performance as revisiting what had just happened was high on his list of priorities.
After leaving the arena and returning to his accommodation, ‘Blessed’ sat around the TV with his friends and family to watch the fight back, leaving fans stunned after seeing the clip from his latest video.
‘Max got home and put on the fight. Certified sicko.’
‘Locked in watching that s— like he wasn’t there.’
‘Thought Max was taking notes at first.’
‘The man is determined to be the best fighter he can be even years into his career. Gotta respect it.’
‘Sickooo mode baby.’

The same video posted by Max Holloway showed a lot of backstage interactions that happened after the main event at UFC 318.
In one interaction, ‘Blessed’ praised the physical shape that Dustin Poirier had gotten himself into for the final fight of his career.
Holloway told ‘The Diamond’ that when he was asked in interviews about whether anything was different at UFC 318 compared to their previous fights, this was the aspect that he highlighted.
Poirier responded with a hilarious comment, revealing that between the weigh-ins and fight day, he gained 14 pounds.
“I was 170 today. I’m built like SpongeBob big dog.”
