But even he was stunned by what happened during Michael Johnson’s upset win at UFC 318.

The former dual-weight UFC champion was shocked by Daniel Zellhuber‘s loss on Saturday night.

Daniel Cormier stunned by weird UFC 318 moment

Just 35 seconds into the fight, Johnson bundled his opponent to the floor to initiate a scramble.

Zellhuber tried to kick him off and inadvertently got his foot stuck in the 39-year-old veteran’s shorts.

As he broke free, Zellhuber caused a wardrobe malfunction as he ripped his rival’s only piece of clothing.

Unfazed by the incident, Johnson ripped off the loose fabric, threw it to one side, and tried to continue fighting.

The referee stepped in and called a brief timeout, which allowed Cormier to express his shock at what he had just witnessed.

“Oh my goodness,” he said, interrupting his co-commentator, Jon Anik, who was explaining the situation.

Round one quickly recommenced with a portion of Johnson’s underwear visible to everyone watching.

The man famous for a 2016 knockout win over Dustin Poirier got a new pair of shorts after the first five-minute frame.

Naturally, reporters were quick to probe Johnson on the strange shorts fiasco after UFC 318.

‘The Menace’ beamed from ear to ear as he recapped one of the most unusual MMA moments of 2025.

“It was so funny,” Johnson said.

“I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s a good thing I had something under my shorts’. That was funny.

“When I ripped them off, it was funny, I could hear in the corner, ‘What are those? Tearaways?’

“I had to turn and laugh at him. That was pretty funny.

“You never know what’s going to happen in an MMA fight.”
