Kevin Holland among three hospitalized UFC 318 stars for precautionary scan following incredible brawl

Several fighters were transported to the hospital after putting on a show for the fans in New Orleans.

UFC 318 may have ended with eight consecutive decisions but that didn’t mean there weren’t highlights throughout the night.

Max Holloway was disappointed to have not won a bonus after believing that his clash with Dustin Poirier in the main event was fight of the night worthy.

The bonus instead went to the middleweight grudge match on the prelims, which has seemingly been settled after Brendan Allen sent a message to Marvin Vettori.

Another fight that was certainly in the running for an additional check was Kevin Holland’s main card fight with Daniel Rodriguez, which unsurprisingly led to one of them receiving additional medical attention.

Kevin Holland, Marcin Prachnio and Nicolle Caliari were transported to the hospital for precautionary scans

Following UFC 318 in New Orleans, several fighters were transported to the local hospital for largely precautionary reasons.

Kevin Holland is the most notable name of the group, with ‘Trailblazer’ having his hope of breaking the UFC record for most wins in a calendar year ended by Daniel Rodriguez.

After being badly hurt in the second round, Holland bounced back in the third and nearly turned the tide of the fight before losing a unanimous decision.

Holland was later scheduled for a precautionary CT scan, though none of the results of any of the tests have been confirmed at this stage.

Marcin Prachnio also made the trip after being submitted by Jimmy Crute, having x-rays taken for his left elbow and foot after being caught in an armbar.

Nicolle Caliari received the same treatment as Holland, a CT scan of her head and face, after the Brazilian was stopped by Carli Judice in the third round.

Dana White says Kevin Holland and Daniel Rodriguez will be compensated despite not winning fight of the night

Kevin Holland and Daniel Rodriguez may not have left UFC 318 with a fight of the night bonus but that doesn’t mean that they won’t be rewarded in other ways.

Dana White has said in the past that just because he doesn’t award someone a bonus, doesn’t mean that they aren’t financially compensated for putting on a show.

White suggested in his post-fight press conference that both men will be taken care of when giving his thoughts on the matchup.

“I thought it was incredible,” White reflected. “Those were two guys that were absolutely in a war and a couple of times I felt like both of them were tired, but they dug deep… They didn’t win but they’re both going to do really well.”
