Ahead of his clash against Patricio Pitbull at UFC 318, Dan Ige has vented his frustration with the UFC commentary team.
On Saturday, the UFC returns to Louisiana for a huge UFC 318 event headlined by a BMF title fight between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier.
Ahead of the blockbuster event, the main talking point has been surrounding ‘The Diamond’ and how it is the final fight of his career.
And ahead of that, Poirier has let his emotions pour as he has received retirement letters from some of the most influential figures throughout his career.

UFC 318 star frustrated with UFC commentators controlling narratives
UFC boss Dana White admitted that he created the UFC 318 card specifically for Poirier, giving him the send off he deserves after such an incredible career.
And with that, the UFC boss has put together a strong card from top to bottom, including some exciting prospects like Ateba Gautier, as well as some fan favorites like Kevin Holland.
However, a fight that is going under the radar is a featherweight clash between heavy-hitting Dan Ige and former Bellator champion, Patricio Pitbull.
Pitbull made his long-awaited UFC debut earlier this year at UFC 314, where he was utterly dominated by Yair Rodriguez.
Ige on the other hand scored a momentum halting win over the impressive Sean Woodson, returning to the win column after back-to-back losses.
Unfortunately for ’50K’ Ige, though, the stoppage was protested by both the fans and the commentators on the broadcast, which hasn’t sat well with Ige who has claimed the commentators control the narrative with their bias.
“As far as the moment goes, I didn’t feel like it robbed my moment because I was in there, the crowd erupted, the ref stopped the fight and I embraced it,” Ige told MMAFighting.
“When I went back to the press room the media brought it up, the controversy, I was like, ‘What controversy?’ and then I went online and read the comments and then you hear the commentary.
“They definitely played a big role into that, and they’re just saying what they see right away, yeah it kind of sucks because it does rob from me a little bit… People hear that and it sways their own perspective. It sucks,” Ige continued.
Ige could score one of the biggest wins of his career at UFC 318
Although Ige is widely considered to be an exciting fighter in the featherweight division, he has never quite made it to contendership in the division.
However, a win over the Brazilian veteran on Saturday night would arguably be the biggest win of his career, considering Pitbull’s accolades.
