Aline Pereira has stepped out of her famous brother’s shadow by winning a world title.
The former two-weight UFC champion was in her corner at Karate Combat 56 on Saturday night.
Fani Peloumpi stood in the way of the Brazilian’s attempt at winning another belt for her family.
‘Warrior Princess’ went the five-round distance, but she fell to a decision defeat against Aline Pereira.

Alex Pereira embraces sister after world title win
Pereira has been by his little sister’s side during all three of her Karate Combat wins.
‘Poatan’ stood right next to Aline as she was crowned the promotion’s flyweight champion at Miami’s Mana Wynwood Convention Center.
The 34-year-old immediately broke down in tears when the belt was wrapped around her waist.
Straight after, she turned to her big brother, who was on hand to give her a big hug.
The siblings spoke in Portuguese as the crowd celebrated another Pereira becoming a world champion.
Alex Pereira to heavyweight?
Though nothing has been confirmed, it appeared likely that Pereira will look to recapture the light heavyweight title in a rematch with Magomed Ankalaev later this year.
However, in recent days, some fans have been convinced that Pereira is moving up to heavyweight.
The 38-year-old currently weighs 247lbs, suggesting he won’t be fighting at 205lbs anytime soon.
Tom Aspinall is currently looking for an opponent after becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion when Jon Jones temporarily retired in June.
A fight with Pereira would be the biggest available, but it is currently unclear if that is a real possibility.
Both men are set to return to the Octagon before the end of 2025, so we shouldn’t have to wait long for an official update from the UFC.
