UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has offered his expert prediction for the UFC 318 main event between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier.
This coming Saturday, Max Holloway returns to the Octagon for the first time since his UFC 308 loss to Ilia Topuria when he defends his BMF title against Dustin Poirier in the UFC 318 main event.
Just days out from their clash, Poirier and Holloway have faced off for the first time since their trilogy fight was booked and ‘The Diamond’ only had one thing to say.
‘Blessed’ Holloway looks to become the first fighter in UFC history to successfully defend the BMF title as neither former champion’s Jorge Masvidal or Justin Gaethje could do it.

Alexander Volkanovski shares prediction for UFC 318 title fight
This will mark Holloway’s first fight since making his move up to lightweight permanent, and ahead of his lightweight clash, Holloway’s pre-fight request of being removed from the featherweight rankings has been granted.
Despite that, the current king of the 145lb division Alexander Volkanovski has had his say on how he thinks the main event will go down, sharing his prediction.
“I’m gonna go with Max, obviously he’s coming off a KO loss which is something that’s gonna be a big factor, not many people can bounce back from a KO loss, there’s only very few that can and I think Max is definitely one of them,” Volkanovski said on Main Event TV.
“I think we’re even gonna see the same Max or even a more improved (Max) now that he’s (been knocked out), maybe even a little bit more calculated because you know he can.
“You know he’s tough, you know he’s got like a lot of skills but now to have even more of a calculated approach, I think he’s gonna be one tough man to beat,” Volkanovski continued.
Alexander Volkanovski picks Poirier win that ‘stands out the most’
Throughout his legendary career, Poirier has put on some incredible performances against the likes of Conor McGregor and Holloway, however, Volkanovski has picked a niche win as one that ‘stands out the most’.
The featherweight champion has picked ‘The Diamond’s’ win over Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299 as the win in his career that stands out the most, because of the fact that he showed he can bounce back after his devastating loss to Justin Gaethje.
