Dustin Poirier will follow in the footsteps of controversial UFC legend with his plan following retirement

Dustin Poirier already has his post-fight career planned out, and he wants to follow in the footsteps of the controversial UFC legend.

This coming Saturday, Dustin Poirier will make his final walk to the Octagon when he takes on Max Holloway in the UFC 318 main event in his hometown, Louisiana.

It will mark Poirier’s first fight since his unsuccessful title challenge against Islam Makhachev last year at UFC 302, and after he realized his undisputed title dreams were over, it was time to call it a day.

UFC boss Dana White has paid a touching tribute to ‘The Diamond’ claiming that UFC 318 was built entirely around Poirier’s retirement.

Dustin Poirier to follow in footsteps of controversial UFC legend

The 36-year-old believes he is still in the prime of his career which makes his retirement even more difficult.

And ahead of his last dance, Poirier will be hoping to put on another career best performance which saw him defeat Holloway for the interim lightweight title back in 2019.

With retirement on the horizon, the Louisianan has detailed his plan following retirement, and it is extremely similar to that of former UFC star, Donald Cerrone.

“Ah, dude, I might live stream (taking steroids) and see if I can get some money from ads or something, maybe I should live stream doing steroids after this fight,” Poirier told Shak MMA.

“Obviously I’ve been tested almost my entire UFC career since USADA and Anti-Doping came into the sport, but I’m kind of just busting people’s b—-, I’m not 100% gonna do that but I will go and get my testosterone levels checked, I’ve never got my levels checked and all that stuff.

“I’m gonna go to a doctor and check my levels and my hormones and just see where I’m at, I’m about to be 37 years old. Now that I won’t have that burden of getting random drug tests at 8AM in the morning, if my levels are low maybe I will do it,” he continued.

In his retirement, ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone has openly started taking steroids, which has caused a few issues considering he is talking about making his return to the UFC.

And ahead of his final UFC outing, Poirier has described his most bizarre drug testing experience.

“One time I was buying a vehicle and signing paperwork and they called me and they were at the gate at my house and they were like, if you can’t make it back to here it counts as a failed test.

“They drove to the dealership and I did blood and urine at the car dealership in the office,” Poirier revealed.
