Last man to defeat Dricus du Plessis makes surprising switch from ONE Championship following vicious KO win

Dricus du Plessis has proved a lot of people wrong during his time in the UFC.

The current middleweight champion will look to prove that he’s one of the best fighters in the world today when du Plessis faces Khamzat Chimaev in the main event of UFC 319.

While the South African received plenty of criticism from fans during his rise in the UFC, wins over the likes of Israel Adesanya, Sean Strickland and Robert Whittaker have convinced people.

Du Plessis is incredibly confident heading into the Chimaev matchup having not lost a fight since October of 2018.

The last man to hand ‘Stillknocks’ a loss has faced many setbacks in recent years but he may finally get past that by getting a fresh start in a new home.

Roberto Soldic set to make debut for FAME MMA in September

Having achieved remarkable success in KSW, Roberto Soldic was a highly sought after free agent when it was announced that he’d be departing the promotion in 2022.

‘Robocop’ signed with ONE Championship, despite interest from the UFC, where since 2022 he has only made three appearances for the promotion.

The Croatian’s first outing was a no contest before he was stopped in the second round by Zebaztian Kadestam at ONE Fight Night 10 in Colorado.

His ONE career finally looked to be on track following his latest bout at ONE 171 this past February where he returned from a near two-year layoff with a devastating first-round knockout win.

In a surprising announcement, Polish promotion FAME MMA announced that Soldic will be debuting with the promotion on September 6.

Soldic thanked ONE Championship on Instagram for allowing him to compete in another sport, which suggests that he is still signed to the promotion for the time being.

FAME MMA stated that his debut opponent will be announced at FAME 26 which takes place later today (July 12) in Poland.

Roberto Soldic fought Dricus du Plessis in back-to-back title fights

At KSW 43 in Poland, Roberto Soldic and Dricus du Plessis met inside the cage for the first time where the South African came out on top via a second-round stoppage.

After suffering his first stoppage loss and losing his welterweight title, the Croatian was booked to rematch ‘Stillknocks’ at KSW 45 in London in 2018.

‘Robocop’ got his revenge via a first-round knockout and to this day, he’s the only man to stop du Plessis with strikes and the last man to defeat him.

Du Plessis would fight two more times before signing with the UFC in 2020 where he has won nine fights in a row.
