Dustin Poirier’s 8-year-old daughter writes adorable tribute to UFC legend ahead of UFC 318 retirement

UFC superstar Dustin Poirier’s daughter is ready for her father to hang up the gloves after UFC 318.

Dustin Poirier will look to conclude his legendary UFC career with another memorable moment when he faces BMF titleholder Max Holloway at UFC 318 next Saturday. The card not only marks Poirier’s likely last fight in the Octagon, but also the UFC’s return to New Orleans for the first time since 2015.

Despite a few potential big-money fights on the table, Poirier seems content in his decision to walk away from fighting at UFC 318. Poirier’s retirement comes after a title loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 302.

As Poirier’s emotional sendoff draws near, his family is ready for him to move on to the next chapter of his life, particularly his eight-year-old daughter.

The 36-year-old Poirier will look to add a BMF belt to his UFC Hall of Fame resume against Holloway. While Poirier never earned a lineal UFC title, he’s been beloved by UFC fans since his promotional debut at UFC 125.

Poirier has matured as a fighter and a person since he first made the walk to the UFC Octagon in 2011. He’s defeated a slew of UFC legends during his career and shares a special relationship with his daughter, Parker.

While UFC fans will miss Poirier competing inside the Octagon, one of his biggest fans is ready for him to hang up the gloves.

During the UFC 318 Countdown episode, Parker’s drawing made the final cut as it revealed a heartwarming message to her father ahead of his retirement.

“Dad I love you so much. I’m happy you are done fighting,” Parker wrote to her father.

Poirier and his wife, Jolie, are set to welcome their first son later this year.

Max Holloway’s next possible opponent matchmaked by Jon Anik ahead of UFC 318

As for Holloway, he’ll look to spoil Poirier’s last hurrah in defense of the coveted BMF title. He returns to the Octagon after a featherweight title loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 308 in October.

Holloway opted to make the full-time move to lightweight following the loss to Topuria. There are several intriguing potential matchups for Holloway in the lightweight division, including a top BMF contender.

Play-by-play broadcaster Jon Anik wants Dan Hooker to get the next shot at Holloway’s BMF title after UFC 318. Hooker hasn’t fought since defeating Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 305 last year.

Holloway earned the BMF belt by knocking out Justin Gaethje at the buzzer at UFC 300 last year. His matchup with Topuria didn’t have the BMF belt on the line.
