Jon Jones has continued to hit out at his long-time rival Daniel Cormier after the analyst criticized him for re-entering the drug testing pool ahead of a UFC return.
Former two-weight world champion Jones stunned fans when he decided to quit the sport last month and allow Tom Aspinall to take his heavyweight title. But just weeks later after learning of a UFC event at the White House, he decided to return and is even back in the drug testing pool.
Jones has even stated that he doesn’t care who his opponent is, so long as he gets to fight on the groundbreaking event. But Cormier isn’t so sure, and feels that he shouldn’t be stringing fans along with teases of a fight.
Jon Jones hits back at Daniel Cormier in latest tweet outburst
It has been around 11 years since Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier were first booked to fight one another, and one of combat’s most bitter feuds was born. They ended up fighting twice after half a dozen efforts, with the former winning both first by unanimous decision and then by knockout.
However, the second was overturned due to a failed drugs test from Jones after he had viciously stopped his rival with a head kick at UFC 217. And the pair have never been fully able to settle their differences even after both retiring.

Just last night, when a fan asked Jones about recent comments made by Cormier calling him a quitter, ‘Bones’ subtly fired back by replying: “Sometimes you gotta know when to quit, sometimes you gotta know when to let things go.
“We should be constantly evolving, quitting certain things could be the best decision a person ever made.”
Daniel Cormier criticized Jon Jones for re-entering testing pool
The concern that Cormier appears to have with Jones coming back into the UFC’s drug testing pool is that he may end up like Conor McGregor. The Irishman has been teasing fans with a comeback for four years, and even had them buy tickets for a doomed fight last summer before pulling out.
“Jon Jones and I don’t see eye to eye in most instances and, boy, he’s been great for my YouTube here this last couple months,” Cormier joked during an episode of his ESPN show Good Guy/Bad Guy with Chael Sonnen.
“Him flopping all over the place has been great for my YouTube. But please don’t become what Conor has become in the media. Every time a big story breaks, Conor’s like, ‘I’m back,’ or ‘I’m doing this.’ Don’t do that. Don’t try to make it about you when you voluntarily walked away from this.
“Conor didn’t voluntarily walk away. Conor got hurt, and he left. He just hasn’t come back. Jones voluntarily said ‘I’m done.’ So now that he’s done, don’t try to make these stories about you whenever you’re a guy that’s supposed to have walked away from the game.”
