Jon Jones returns to training just weeks after announcing his official UFC retirement

Jon Jones’ potential comeback to the UFC has moved to the next stage as the former champion has returned to the gym.

A few weeks ago following the UFC‘s first ever event in Azerbaijan, Dana White announced that the heavyweight saga including Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall had finally come to an end as Jones officially retired from the sport.

Despite that, not long after Jones teased a huge u-turn on his retirement, claiming that he was back in the testing pool after it was revealed that Donald Trump will host a UFC event at the White House next year.

And having now teased his potential comeback, Jones claimed he is relishing his new position of being the ‘hunter’ instead of the ‘hunted’.

Jon Jones returns to training after teasing potential comeback

Throughout the entire heavyweight saga that lasted for several months, Jones revealed that he hadn’t been training the entire time, which made his comeback at the time even less likely.

However, now in his retirement, the 37-year-old has opted to return to the gym, and may still return to the Octagon for one last dance.

“Oh boy, we’re back,” Jones said as he brushed spider webs off the shutter doors to his gym.

As of this moment, it is unclear whether or not ‘Bones’ is serious about returning to the sport, just weeks after announcing his retirement.

If the UFC and Donald Trump are serious about hosting an event on the grounds of the White House, it will need to be a huge super fight, and Jones would be a welcome addition to the event.

Fans react to Jones returning to training

Over the last year, Jones has lost a lot of credibility amongst the UFC fanbase, despite still widely being considered to be the greatest fighter of all time.

Despite that, having now returned to training, fans have shared their reactions to the potential news of his return.

“Bro’s ego couldn’t handle being forgotten,” one fan commented on his post.

“Dana must have offered the bag he wanted,” another fan said.

“Donald Trump handing you the heavyweight belt in front of the White House is straight (fire). The goat is back,” a third fan reacted.

“One more time, champ,” another fan reacted.
