UFC featherweight contender Movsar Evloev drew the ire of many fight fans with a questionable claim about his regimen.
Movsar Evloev is unquestionably one of the best MMA fighters in the world. Throughout his undefeated career, Evloev has passed every test in front of him, including against top names like Diego Lopes and former UFC titleholder Aljamain Sterling.
But despite his massive success in the Octagon, Evloev remains relatively overlooked by some analysts and the UFC matchmakers. A win in his next fight might be enough to secure a UFC featherweight title shot.
As he prepares for his upcoming fight, Evloev raised eyebrows with a stunning claim about his training camp routine.

Movsar Evloev claims he does 1500 pushups, in one hour, every week of UFC career
Earlier in his UFC career, Evloev claimed that he routinely performs 1500 pushups in one hour, every week of training. After an old clip of Evloev doing pushups went viral, a media outlet questioned the featherweight’s sincerity.
In a recent interview with Ushatayka, Evloev was asked about the impressive feat.
“I do it in exactly one hour, it’s part of my weekly training,” Evloev said.
“The method comes from [boxer] Kostya Tszyu — it originally required 1,000 push-ups in one session. But I’ve done it so often, I pushed it to 1500.” (h/t MMA Mania)
Evloev is a physical specimen in the featherweight division, as he’s demonstrated throughout his undefeated career. Despite his physical gifts, many UFC fans weren’t buying what Evloev was selling.
“Liar!” one UFC fan wrote on X.
“That’s 100 pushups in a minute…no way,” another said.
“Is that what one needs to do to shrink the pecs? Good to know.”
“Easy to do when you weigh less.”
“That’s why Ilia ducked him.”
“Sounds like he might be exaggerating a little here.”
“Bruh, I wish he could’ve fought Ilia. Bro is a beast with the grappling. Give my guy the next title shot over Yair man.”
“Merab might not be the machine anymore.”
“Push ups and steroids.”
“I call cap!”
Evloev has the opportunity to showcase his elite strength in his upcoming fight against a dangerous debutant.
Movsar Evloev set to face UFC debutant despite relentless calls for title shot
Evloev and Aaron Pico will clash in a five-round co-main event at UFC Abu Dhabi later this month. UFC CEO Dana White recently told Evloev that if he defeats Pico, he’ll get a featherweight title shot for his next booking.
UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski could potentially face a familiar foe for his first title defense of his second title reign. Yair Rodriguez is rumored to get the next title shot after defeating Patricio Pitbull at UFC 314 earlier this year.
Evloev has the chance to separate himself from the pack at UFC Abu Dhabi.
