‘The Notorious’ has been teasing a comeback following the announcement of a first of its kind UFC event in 2026.
President Donald Trump recently announced that the UFC will host an event at the White House for Independence Day in 2026.
The news quickly attracted the attention of Conor McGregor, who shared Dana White’s thoughts on the biggest star in the sport returning to the Octagon.
With McGregor already teasing a potential matchup with Michael Chandler which has been long overdue following their cancelled fight in 2024, ‘The Notorious’ appears to be serious about his comeback plans.
The former UFC champ-champ hasn’t competed in four years but in a recent message on social media, he claimed that this event could fix any previous issues that he’s had.
Conor McGregor claims offer to fight at the White House would allow him to correctly focus on his return
In the road to his planned comeback at UFC 303 where he’d face Michael Chandler in the main event, a lot of people had their doubts about Conor McGregor’s focus.
Both before and after the fight was cancelled after McGregor withdrew due to an injury, there was a lot of speculation online regarding whether ‘The Notorious’ was ever taking the fight seriously.
It became quickly apparent that the fight wasn’t going to be rebooked anytime soon after the Irishman transitioned out of whatever form of training camp he was previously in.
However, McGregor believes that coming back to fight at the White House would correct any previous mistakes that he’s had when attempting to make a return.
The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion posted on X about how his accuracy is the “superpower” that allowed him to rise to the top of the sport.
At the end of his post, McGregor wrote that the “very intriguing offer” to step back inside the Octagon at this landmark event would allow him to “correctly” prepare for a shocking comeback.
“To return at the White House with my sniper accuracy would be a very intriguing offer and would bring me back in to focus on my return correctly.”
Conor McGregor claims that he’ll already be the President of Ireland when he returns to the UFC
Stepping back inside the Octagon in just under a year’s time isn’t the only big plan that Conor McGregor has for the next 12 months.
‘The Notorious’ wrote on X that when he makes his walk to the Octagon at the White House in 2026, he will do it as the President of Ireland.
“July 4th next year is a Saturday, regarding President Trumps UFC White House event. I will be reigning President of Ireland just under 1 year when I step out on the lawns of the White House to throw down. Epic proportions! Or as I like to call it, Tuesday at the office. Vote McGregor.”
McGregor is scheduled to make a ‘groundbreaking’ announcement at next week’s BKFC press conference, though there hasn’t been much speculation regarding what the news may be.
