‘Count me in!’… Conor McGregor teases UFC return following President Donald Trump’s major announcement

The President’s recent announcement about hosting a UFC event has attracted the interest of the biggest star in the sport.

During a rally on July 3, Donald Trump claimed that the White House will host a UFC event next year to commemorate the 250th birthday of the United States on July 4, 2026.

With Trump stating that 25,000 people will be in attendance, you’d expect there to be some massive fights booked for such a landmark occasion.

Fans have already suggested that Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall could finally happen with it making a lot of sense for an American fighter to top the bill.

There is, however, another name who has the stature to headline a first-of-its-kind event and it didn’t take long before Conor McGregor’s ears perked up.

Conor McGregor teases UFC return for President Donald Trump’s recently announced event at the White House

Conor McGregor has been more preoccupied with BKFC’s business than his own fighting career for some time now.

‘The Notorious’ hasn’t stepped inside the Octagon since UFC 264 in July of 2021 after he withdrew from his comeback fight with Michael Chandler that was scheduled for June of last year.

That could be set to change as a result of President Donald Trump’s announcement regarding the White House playing host to the Octagon.

McGregor posted about the announcement on X before shortly following up with a photo of him and Trump together.

Having recently questioned whether the UFC is back following UFC 317 this past weekend, the former champ-champ has expressed his interest in fighting in front of the President at next year’s Independence Day.

“Happy 4th of July, USA. Excited with President Trump announcing a UFC fight event at the White House. I would be honoured! Count me in!”

Conor McGregor is set to make a major announcement at a press conference next week

On July 3, BKFC announced that they will be hosting a ‘State of the Promotion’ press conference on July 10 in Hollywood, Florida.

Along with the promotion’s champions all being in attendance, the press release states that Conor McGregor will be there to make a “groundbreaking” announcement.

It isn’t clear yet what this announcement will entail, though it seems unlikely that it will be concern ‘The Notorious’ making a return to combat sports.

McGregor’s announcement could easily be a new partnership for BKFC, a new major signing or the details of an upcoming card.

The press conference will stream live on BKFC’s YouTube channel.
