In recent times, several UFC stars have played roles in various promotions where tensions can quickly escalate.
The most high-profile example was the brawl that Nate Diaz and his team got into while filming ‘ALF Reality’, which Jon Jones provided more context on.
Another promotion, Hype Fighting Championship, has also enlisted the help of several MMA stars to feature in their events.
In the past, the promotion’s reality show featured Khamzat Chimaev going up against Arman Tsarukyan as team captains before the two elite competitors had a brief grappling exchange.
Along with Tsarukyan’s continued involvement, Hype FC recently announced that Tony Ferguson would be appearing in the promotion to host one of their new projects.
Tony Ferguson gets caught in the middle of a brawl and helps to separate the fighters ahead of ‘dirty boxing’ tournament
Hype FC announced in May that former UFC star Tony Ferguson would be the host of the promotion’s new ‘Reels Fighting’.
The tournament format, which takes place in Thailand, is set to feature 32 competitors in 1-minute fights that take place under boxing rules in MMA gloves with a $10,000 prize up for grabs.
Ferguson hasn’t fought since his final UFC fight in August of 2024, though he was expected to face Dillon Danis in GFL until the promotion’s initial events were indefinitely postponed.
It seemingly didn’t take long before ‘El Cucuy’ found himself right back in the eye of the storm, as his hosting duties led him to breaking up a fight between two contestants during their stare-down.
Several videos, some of which were posted by Nabaey Ariana who was one of the fighters involved, showed Ferguson helping to keep the opponents apart before bringing them back together for a final face-off.
Unsurprisingly, it appears that the former UFC interim lightweight champion is thriving in the chaos as he hypes up the fight and shouts “I love it” down the microphone.
Fans are happy to see Tony Ferguson having a good time while being a host for Hype FC
Following the incredibly rough run to his UFC career, fans were incredibly happy to see Tony Ferguson enjoying himself at Hype FC.
‘El Cucuy’ is obviously a big name for the promotion to have on board but the 41-year-old clearly isn’t there just to collect a paycheck.
His enthusiasm in the videos that have emerged online led to a positive response from the fans.
‘I rather see Tony do things like this.’
‘We need Tony on TUF.’
‘Need more of this for El Cucuy!’
‘Happy to see my guy El Cucuy enjoying life. CSO.’
‘I think Tony is the perfect person for Russian promotions.’
‘Hahaha old boy’s loving it. May have found his retirement calling.’
