One of the hottest prospects at 155lbs has teased some huge fight news following the lightweight title fight this past weekend.
Mauricio Ruffy is one of the most exciting prospects in the UFC and is currently riding a three fight win streak since making his debut in the promotion in 2024.
Last time out, ‘One-Shot’ Ruffy scored a Knockout of the Year contender when he put longtime lightweight veteran Bobby Green to sleep with a huge spinning wheel kick at UFC 313.
Although he was already considered a future contender in the division, his incredible win had the likes of Jon Anik claiming that he is a future champion and potential star in the sport.
Mauricio Ruffy sends Ilia Topuria a message following UFC 317 title win
This past Saturday at UFC 317, the vacant lightweight title was competed for by Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira in what was a huge fight for the future of the division.
Carrying on his run as the biggest current star in the sport, Topuria scored another huge knockout when he laid Oliveira unconscious in the first round to become the tenth fighter to win a title in two different weight classes.
Immediately after his title win, Topuria faced off with Paddy Pimblett, potentially suggesting that the Brit would be his first title defense.
Despite that, ‘El Matador’ was sent a message of warning by the popular Fighting Nerd, who told the Spaniard to enjoy his time at the top for now.
“Make the most of this moment Topuria. I will definitely put you to sleep,” Ruffy said in a post on X.
Although the Brazilian likely has a few wins to pick up first before he is considered for a title shot, it would undoubtedly be one of the biggest lightweight fights in recent memory.

Looking to continue his ascent of the 155lb division and in an attempt to move one step closer to a fight against Topuria, Ruffy has teased that he has some ‘crazy’ fight news coming.
“Guys just wait a little longer. In the next few days, there’s going to be some news that will drive you crazy. Those who follow Ruffy and root for me to be the champion, there’s some great news coming for you. A very good fight,” Ruffy said via AgFight.
Ruffy did find himself in the top 15 of the lightweight rankings following his recent win but following Topuria’s title win, he has unfortunately been pushed out of the rankings.
A fight that fans are hoping happens is a clash between Ruffy and Dan Hooker. ‘The Hangman’ is currently ranked number seven in the division and it would make for an incredibly action packed fight.
