Fans label Belal Muhammad ‘delusional’ after former welterweight champion makes bold claim about UFC 315 loss

Belal Muhammad recently reflected on his UFC 315 loss where his welterweight title reign came to an end.

Muhammad was defeated by Jack Della Maddalena in an upset that changed the landscape of the 170-pound division.

‘Remember the Name’ is now targeting a return against a fellow former champion as Muhammad looks to settle his feud with Kamaru Usman.

Muhammad has even spoken about welcoming Ilia Topuria to welterweight as he looks to get back on track in a big way following the end of his impressive streak.

While the 36-year-old has moved on from his latest outing, his recent claim about UFC 315 led to fans criticizing him on social media.

Fans criticize Belal Muhammad for saying that he believes he beat Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315

In a recent interview with Home of Fight, Belal Muhammad spoke about the potential matchups that are out there for his return to the Octagon.

The former champion believes that it will only take him one win to get back into the title picture because of how close and entertaining his loss to Jack Della Maddalena was.

In fact, despite all three judges scoring the fight in favor of the challenger, Muhammad believes that he deserved the win, regardless of how many times he watches it back.

“The ‘JDM’ fight, it was close. To me, I thought I still won that fight. I could go back and re-watch it a million times and no matter what it was, I still see myself winning. So, I think even like the UFC, Dana White, they liked the fight so I think I’m still one fight away.”

While there were some fans making the case for Muhammad winning the fight, with the fifth round being the decider on two of the scorecards, the vast majority agreed with the judges.

In response to his recent comments, fans were critical of Muhammad following his take on the 4th loss of his UFC career.

‘This dude’s face is by the word “delusional” in the dictionary. So so cringe.’

‘He clearly lost 4-1.’

‘There is a better argument for JDM 5-0 than Belal 3-2.’

‘Well yeah it looks different from your own perspective but have you considered what everyone else was seeing.’

‘Man WHAT.’

‘If he wants to count blocking JDM strikes with his face as winning sure, but he lost.’

‘He’s delusional it wasn’t close, it was a clear 4-1, arguable 5-0.’

Belal Muhammad says the winner of him vs Kamaru Usman should earn a title shot

During the interview with Home of Fight, Belal Muhammad spoke about a matchup with Kamaru Usman, which has been his preference for his return fight.

‘Remember the Name’ believes that the winner of a fight between the two former champions would earn a shot at the welterweight title.

Muhammad claims that it makes the most sense for both him and Usman, a point with which most fans seem to agree with considering their current positions in the division.

“Yeah 100%. There’s really nothing else for us, whoever wins that fight should be next. When you’re thinking of that division, the biggest names, we’re two of the biggest names in that division, especially right now. It makes complete sense with the back and forth, the history, their hidden podcasts, all that stuff.”
