UFC 318 loses major fight after Khamzat Chimaev’s old rival breaks toe in training

UFC 318 has taken a hit after one of its stars suffered a broken toe in training.

Dustin Poirier’s retirement fight against BMF champion Max Holloway will headline the next pay-per-view show in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 19.

Thankfully, the lightweight duo and everyone competing on the UFC 318 main card are still set to do so.

However, a middleweight contender competing on the prelims has announced his departure from the event.

Ikram Aliskerov falls off UFC 318

On Tuesday morning, Ikram Aliskerov shared footage of one of his sparring sessions going badly wrong.

The Russian fighter, whose two MMA losses have come against Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker, was supposed to face Brunno Ferreira later this month.

Unfortunately, that fight is now off after Aliskerov broke his big toe in training.

“I was in great shape, unfortunately, trouble happens,” he wrote alongside an Instagram showing how the injury occurred.

“I have to withdraw from the fight on July 19 due to a broken [toe].

“Insha Allah I will be back very soon. I’ll be back very soon, Insha’Allah.”

It’s currently unclear if Ferreira will remain on the card against a different opponent.
